We are pleased to announce that Alltask Asbestos Division has commenced asbestos remediation at the historic Porchester Centre for Westminster City Council. This project aims to improve drainage and waterproofing in the basement of the Grade II listed building, ensuring its preservation and functionality.
Opened in 1929 and designed by Herbert Shepherd and Ernest Barnes, the Porchester Centre is a Grade II listed building with a great swimming pool, Turkish baths, and various community spaces. It also served as a filming location for scenes from the television drama about the Hatton Garden heist.
In partnership with Standage, Alltask is carrying out:
• Asbestos Abatement to Enable Basement Screed Slab Removal: The existing basement screed slab needs to be broken out carefully. Due to the tight site conditions and the building’s listed status, this work must be done with precision to avoid any damage to the structure.
• Manual Disposal: Given the restricted access and the building’s operational constraints, debris and materials will be manually moved for disposal. This method ensures minimal disruption to the surrounding area and maintains the integrity of the building.
This project continues the collaborative efforts of Standage and Alltask with Westminster City Council, enhancing and preserving Westminster’s historic buildings. Standage’s expertise in working with listed buildings complements Alltask’s dedication to safety and quality.
