Major Roof Restoration
Photo’s showcasing the final and the largest phase of the major roof restoration at the Nave at Chichester Cathedral. The roofs have been leaking for many years, but the new roof will provide better protection from coastal weather and should last for many years.
The Nave roof is particularly significant because it contains medieval markings and pegs that provide information about how these massive timbers were put together and how the craftsmen would have gained access without modern scaffolding.
Over £5 million has been given toward the roof restoration since the fundraising campaign was launched in 2017.
